A gift for my friend, Kim. Calla was her character with her design, so I was working from sketches. Also I used a set of commercial patterns as a base for the dresses. The photos are also hers -- her photos turned out better.
Calla's normal outfit, made of a royal blue and red stretch velvet and gold trim. Lesson one: Always sew trim on first. Yes, I've made that mistake before. The base doll was a Disney High School Musical Doll. I darkened the hair with Sharpie a bit. The red hair was glued on, since I didn't trust my ability to pry a doll head off without breaking it, which is what I'd need to do if I wanted to use rooted hair.
Calla's mentalist robes were the same pattern, but the stomacher-corset thing was new. It's also technically reversible. You can also see I dealt better with the trim. The dress was some kind of silky stuff, which was darker than I intended. The green was also more olive, which lead to adjusting the trim.
Calla's elementalist robes here, and I use the term robes loosely. These were free-formed, mostly out of ribbon. Here I got sick of trying to figure out a good way to close the top so I went for a tie. You can also see the boots here, which came with the doll, but which I had to paint black with model paint (and remove fringe). Decided the shiny look worked for them, so I didn't do a matte coat over them.
