Nature

Alri always associated the smells of soil and life with the farming satellites. Positioned in synchronous orbit, spun for gravity, with mirrors directing the sunlight in to feed hungry plants, they were the breadbasket and air supply for the spacebound kemarynyil.

She had visited them once as a child, her first trip outside of her home station, and her first look at plants that weren't just pictures devoid of scent and texture. This was where food came from, she thought, from this green and fragrant and alive place. They seemed so natural, growing inward on a tube spinning in space.
