Murphy knew everyone was wondering about her on her first day back to work. Here she was, Karrin Murphy, not only tougher than half the forces, but able to take Special Investigations, where unsolved cases were sent to die, and force new life into the cases. Then, she had disappeared for days in the middle of a case, without any sort of word, and she knew that they were wondering what happened. She wasn't any help there -- no one wanted to hear that she helped rescue the daughter of a friend of a friend from evil fairies.
She looked up as Rawlins set coffee and a muffin on her desk. "You know, the murders stopped once you left," he said. "Word around SI is that you did something with the wizard."
"There's a lot of words around SI." Murphy replied. But, she took the muffin and the coffee anyway.
