Phoenix Dawn: Setting Info

The Starship Ankaa

The Ankaa is a Alpha-class ship, one of the smallest ships used for interstellar flight. The ship is only two decks, and maybe 100 ft. long. The ship has a small shuttleplane, the Firebird. It's about the size of a minivan.

Overall, the ship's color scheme involves a lot of white panels, with very cheap-looking (but bright-colored) carpeting on the floors. Several rooms were seen in the comic. Several thing missing are the crew quarters (closet-like, with a bed and dresser built into one wall) and the lab.

Bridge of the Ankaa. The consoles can be configured to run whatever needs to be done. The bottom level of the engine room. Most of the nuts and bolts are hidden behind panels -- the Ankaa is a new ship.

Hinode

Hinode overall has a bit of a generic fantasy feel. The two cities visited so far have been Lorei and Ila. Lorei has a very New England seacoast feel to it, in my mind -- lots of grey stone and very weathered wood on the outside, and warm colors on the inside. Ila's style is a mix of Mediterranean (tile roofs and stucco) and Indian (mostly in the textiles) -- it also has a lot of street markets and such -- greens and red-browns are in the palette I use for it.

The only background I ever did of Lorei. I can't find the original, sadly. Siren's Shrine, in a small spring near where the forest meets the sea.
The rooftops of Ila. The city is built on terraces and densely settled, with the shrine at the top.

Hinoiri

Hinoiri has a very Victorian Europe feel in the overall architecture, but it overall comes off as a lot brighter, since its industrialization is based more on magic than on coal and oil. It's also got a hint of steampunk/magepunk in that things like airships are the common long-distance travel. Most of the scenes so far have been in the capital, in the spaces reserved for the ruler -- Delwyn's office (there is a throne room, but Delwyn hardly ever frequents it besides on occasions of state), meeting rooms, and Delwyn's personal workshop. The former two are well-decorated, with lots of ornate furniture and curtains and carpets, while Delwyn's workroom looks very practical -- he actually keeps it very neat.
