Shashi is short (5' 2"), having not hit any sort of growth spurt, and his build is pretty light -- not much fat, not much muscle. His skin is a deep brown, but you'd be hard pressed to see it under the layer of dark grey fur that covers most of his body, a main of white hair that falls to his shoulders, and yellow eyes. He has large, high-set ears, which do show some of his skin on the insides, and his face is rather human looking -- perhaps a bit more pointed than average, but he does lack the muzzle of a fox. He has human-like hands and feet (though much of the fanart shows him with paws), though he does have clawlike nails, but also a single fox tail in the normal place for a tail. Normally he wears his blue uniform cloak over his clothing, which is usually a very neat Victoriana-style dress shirt and trousers. He also carries his staff everywhere.
Shashi is quiet, and generally keeps a cool facade, with maybe a couple of sarcastic comments muttered under his breath. He does want to be seen as an adult, so will keep things professional then, even though he might think many adults aren't any better than his peers. He does respect skill, though, so will be slightly warmer to people he sees as having some great talent, though he tends to see other gate mages as possible rivals or benchmarks. Has problems just relaxing instead of working on improving himself.
Shashi's family are have lived on Hinoiri for a while, producing many scholars and mages. As soon as Shashi's talent was discovered, he was placed in training to become a Gate Mage, and quickly proved to be a bit of a prodigy and invited to the largest school in the capital. It was here he met Ravi Falk, the only other person at his level in his age group. Shashi graduated and was given a position at the palace, one that Ravi declined without giving a reason. Shashi considers his job as recognition of his talent, taking it quite seriously.
