Physical Description
Riki is a bit shorter than average (5'8"), and kind of scrawny. he has a very long, oblong face, with large eyes and prominent eyelashes, and a long nose. His hair is light brown, with red bangs, and his eyes are dark brown. His skin is almost the color of ivory -- a sort of pale yellow-brown. He usually wears very loose, flowing and warm clothing, and likes blues.
Personality
Riki is pretty easygoing, though a bit spacy. He is scrupulously polite, but this is more conditioned reflex rather than an a natural trait. He has no ability to read people whatsoever, which he only partially compensates for by psychic empathy. He dislikes being along, though he feels most comfortable in small groups, not large ones. He is quite proud of his own abilities, and tends to be open to the point of showing off about his own psionics, art skills -- he's a hobbyist artist -- and his intelligence/scientific knowledge. This, combined with his lack of empathy, can make him sound pretty condescending. He's rather organized and driven when he has a project, but without one, he kind of drifts.History
The son of a Darynese politician, Riki has a rather privileged upbringing. In addition to being quite comfortable with aliens, he can also speak English, though his accent is a bit heavy, and his grammar is very formal. He is also the first known Darynese with active psonics, and one of only a few trained Darynese psis. Because of the lack of psis on Daryn, he was sent to Earth at age 12 to learn more about his abilities. After getting his degree in Astronautical Engineering at the young age of 20, something that very nearly burned him out, he joined the Star by Star Exploration Program to see the Galaxy.Relationships
- Riki is very protective of his sister Aris, and is trying to set a good example for her. On the other hand, he also can be a pushover when it comes to her -- if she wasn't so timid, she could so get anything she wanted form her big brother.
- Riki is very close friends with Melody -- he is very comfortable around her, and interacting with her is one of the rare times he isn't hyper-formal.
- Riki treats Phillee with the respect he sees due to her as someone old enough to be his mother. He has gotten used to her very informal nature.
- Riki considers Alri just a coworker at firs,t though this moves into friendship. No, he hasn't figured out she was attracted to him yet.
- Riki gets along fine with Kai and goes to him for magical advice. The two are on working terms, but don't really understand one another.
- Riki is uneasy around Philandre, mostly because he's never had to deal with someone who is very forward with his attraction, especially another man, and isn't quite sure how to discourage this without being rude.
Special Abilities
Telepathy/empathy, minor telekinesis, untrained precognition, short-ranged teleportation, summoning abilities, healing. As a Darynese, he has good night vision and heat tolerance, and an excellent sense of smell.
