Physical Description
Kai is a foot-tall humanoid with dragonfly wings and bug-like antennae. He is technically from an asexually-reproducing species, but I use male pronouns for him. He has green-blue skin with a darker chitinous covering instead of hair, and long, pointed ears, and pale pink shell accents (visible here over his palms and on his forehead). While technically the clothing I draw him in is part of his body, anything blue with the shell accents will work.
Personality
Kai is a bit of a blowhard academic -- smart, egotistical and highly extroverted. He doesn't have a high opinion of most people, though he slowly warms to the cast as the traveling gives him something to do with his mind. He's also unusually reverent towards the spirits, seeing them as pretty much like his patron gods.
History
Kai has a pretty short history, despite being reasonably old. Sprites aren't terribly aware of how they reproduce -- new ones appear and old ones disappear, with folklore stating that old sprites become spirits. Kai grew up in the village he appeared in, learning what he could about the world and magic. He was pretty much sent with the cast to get him away from the village. Kai's own reasons for helping the crew is to become famous for documenting the first alien visitors and belief that Delwyn was a right bastard who would kill every sprite if given the chance.
Relationships
- Phillee and Kai click quickly, being both extroverts and very smart.
- Kai isn't sure what to make of Riki -- he must be special since the spirits are helping him, but he's kinda a dweeb.
- Alri is someone Kai is happy to talk to, as she doesn't mind being info-dumped at.
- Kai mostly ignores Melody -- she's not on his radar at all.
- Kai has never met Delwyn but hates him with the passion of a thousand suns, and is firmly convinced that Delwyn is the enemy of all sprite-kind.
Special Abilities
Flight, water-breathing and general water magic, plus some healing abilities.
