Delwyn is an elf, with a height that's slightly above normal (6 feet) and a build that shows he isn't just sitting on his throne all day. He has very fine, silvery hair, normally worn pulled out of his face in a ponytail, and grey eyes, and is rather pale. His ears are rather prominent, and usually an indication of his mood -- or what he wants people to think his mood is. Unless he is in his workshop, he is a rather snappy dresser, usually favoring reds, golds and violets.
Delwyn is devoted to his duty -- and he sees his duty as keeping order in his homeland and bringing order to the uncivilized abroad. He sees himself as deserving of power, both political and magic, but also sees power as being firmly wedded to responsibility. He is a very restrained person with a firm sense of justice and his own code of honor -- if you are a law abiding citizen, then he will treat you fairly and kindly, but if you are an enemy of the state, he will have you killed. He tends towards the Machiavellian approach of politics, but there are some means he will not employ -- the killing of innocents being one. Delwyn tends to be a workaholic on his pet projects. He is very focused, and will skip meals and sleep to give himself more time for them or the task of governing. He mistrusts nobles and most other elves, seeing them as trying to manipulate him. That does not stop him from being polite to them -- good manners are important, after all.
Delwyn was born the only child to the Hinoiri Royal Family. His mother -- the previous Lord of Hinoiri -- raised him to follow in her footsteps. Delwyn also had an intense scientific curiosity to find out why his world lacked magic, when the neighboring world, Hinode, was full of it. He also learned much about the construction of magic-based items. It was then that he met the traveler Elise Connor, bartered for lessons on her strange world and how to use her ship. A legal loophole in Hinoiri law allowed the government to seize Elise's ship -- which created bad blood between the woman and Delwyn's family. With the death of his parents when he was 15, Delwyn took on an unexpectedly strong role as the new lord, promoting the development of the middle class as opposed to the nobles. He continued to pursue his natural philosophy, eventually coming up with a plan to restore the magic of Hinoiri.
